Admissions criteria
The i3 admissions process is competitive. However, we are looking for qualities beyond grade point average.
We seek students who have shown academic promise, including those who have demonstrated marked improvement over their college careers.
The program is open to students from liberal arts and business backgrounds as well as those in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. If you think you have the potential to take your place among the next generation of information leaders, you should apply.
Who should apply
- Undergraduate students enrolled in an accredited college or university in the United States
- Students enrolled in any academic major; undeclared or undecided students are also welcome to apply
- Individuals who can demonstrate a commitment to increasing opportunities for underrepresented minorities
- United States citizens or permanent residents
- Students who appreciate the potential opportunities available in the information sciences
Submitting your application
The application is available online. Instructions for letters of recommendation are available as a downloadable form. Please download it and send it to those who have agreed to submit letters on your behalf.

Helpful hints for applying
- Proofread your application.
- Submit your application early.
- Ask people for letters of recommendation who can highlight your skills and accomplishments.
- Letters of recommendation should not come from friends or family.
